Mahatma Basweshwar Education Society's Legacy through MS Bidve Engineering College
In alignment with the visionary ideals of Mahatma Basweshwar, the Mahatma Basweshwar Education Society was founded in 1963 in Latur. Established as one of the oldest and most esteemed educational societies in the Marathwada region, the society aims to shape engineering graduates with a global perspective to address the ever-evolving needs of the industry in the era of globalization.
The society took a significant stride towards fulfilling this mission by establishing the M.S. Bidve Engineering College (MSBECL) in 1983 in Latur. Affiliated with Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded, and approved by AICTE, New Delhi, the institute has recently achieved the prestigious ISO-9001:2000 certification, affirming its commitment to quality education.
Situated in the southeastern part of Maharashtra, Latur District holds a prominent position in the educational landscape. Latur town, located at 18.7° latitude and 73.25° longitude, shares its borders with Bidar district of Karnataka to the east, Nanded to the northeast, Parbhani to the north, Beed to the northwest, and Osmanabad to the west and south. The district, positioned on the Balaghat plateau, ranges from 540 to 638 meters above mean sea level.
Latur, well-connected by road, railway, and air, is accessible from Pune (320 km), Hyderabad (280 km), and Mumbai (480 km) by bus. Although the current air-travel facility extends up to Aurangabad, plans for further expansion are in progress.
Notably, Latur City boasts a distinctive and innovative "Latur Pattern" in the field of education, setting a benchmark acknowledged across Maharashtra.
